What to think about for automatic internal doors in Dyfed
- Lightweight stud partitions may not carry an operator without extra support. The survey checks what the wall is made of and what reinforcement is needed.
- Infection control rules may set what materials and controls can be used. Wipe-clean surfaces and sealed switches that stand up to cleaning products are worth specifying.
- Each automated door needs power at the head. In older buildings in Dyfed, running new supplies through finished corridors can be a significant part of the cost.
- Offices in Dyfed with open-plan floors often have corridor fire doors that are held open by wedges. A proper hold-open device or operator removes the wedge and keeps the door working as a fire door.
- Schools and colleges in Dyfed often prefer corridor work in the holidays. Book the survey early in the term before, so doors and operators can be ordered and delivered in time.

Standards and rules in Wales
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers in Wales must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. Fitting an automatic door helps, but does not on its own guarantee those duties are met.
Wales has its own building regulations guidance. Approved Document M (Wales) uses a lower opening-force limit than England, 20 N at the leading edge, before a powered door is called for, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
How it works
- Start with a short enquiry. Use the form, phone or email. Tell us whether the work is a new door, an upgrade or an opener for a home, and we arrange the next step for your site in Dyfed.
- Measured survey. The free survey confirms what will fit and what the entrance needs: opening width, door type, activation, safety sensors and behaviour on power loss or fire alarm, matched to how the building is used.
- Written price, no surprises. A fixed, itemised quote sets out the specification, the work involved, the expected lead time and the warranty terms. You can ask questions or change the specification before accepting it.
- Installed and commissioned. The door is installed with as little disruption as possible, then set up and tested for its hazard zones. Before leaving, the engineer explains the controls and hands over the documents for your records.

Automatic internal doors in Dyfed: questions
Can our cross-corridor fire doors in Dyfed be held open?
Yes, using hold-open devices or fire-rated operators linked to the fire alarm, so the doors close when the alarm operates. We check the doors' condition and ratings first. Any change to how fire doors behave should be agreed with whoever holds your fire risk assessment.
Is there a guide price for automatic internal doors in Dyfed?
Our guide starts from £1,795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Dyfed confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
How disruptive is the work in an occupied building in Dyfed?
Usually less than people expect. Most swing operators take half a day to a day per door, and sliding doors a little longer. We plan the order of work to keep routes open, control dust, and agree any out-of-hours working in the quote.
Can you automate the corridor doors in our care home in Dyfed?
Yes. We survey each door, including its fire rating, hinges, frame and power, and quote a fixed price. Doors can be set to open gently and slowly, with extra safety sensors where residents are frail. Work is planned around your care routines and agreed with the home manager.
What should I send before the survey in Dyfed?
A few photos of the door from inside and outside, rough measurements of the opening, the address and a note of how the entrance is used. If the door already has an operator, a photo of any label on it helps. With that, the engineer arrives prepared, the survey takes less of your time and we can put the quote for automatic internal doors together more easily.
How are payments structured for work in Dyfed?
Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.
Are the rules for automatic doors different in Wales?
Some are. Wales has its own building regulations guidance: Approved Document M (Wales) calls for a powered door where opening a self-closing entrance door would need more than 20 N, lower than the figure used in England. Fire law (the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) and the Equality Act 2010 apply as in England.
