Covering Alloa and nearby

From shops and surgeries to schools, care homes and private houses, any building in the FK10 postcode district can be covered for automatic door servicing. Specialist engineers working under our management carry out the work, and you deal with us as the contracting party from start to finish.

Care homes in and around Alloa often need automatic doors on corridors and day rooms as well as at the main entrance. Gentle operation, hold-open devices linked to the fire alarm and controlled exits help residents move about safely.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic door servicing (straight-line distance): Stirling (5.7 miles), Stenhousemuir (6.2 miles), Larbert (6.6 miles), Grangemouth (7.7 miles), Falkirk (7.9 miles), Dunblane (8.4 miles).

What to think about for automatic door servicing in Alloa

  • Doors on busy high streets in Alloa can cycle hundreds of times a day. Heavy use wears belts, rollers and floor guides faster, so these doors usually need more frequent visits.
  • If several buildings share one maintenance budget, a single contract with one price per door and one set of records is easier to manage than booking visits separately.
  • A logbook kept near the door, or a shared digital folder, makes it simple to show service history in Alloa when an insurer, landlord or inspector asks for it.
  • Battery backup units wear out over time. Testing them at each service shows whether the door will still open or close safely in a power cut.
  • Exposed entrances collect grit, leaves and rain. Weather-facing doors benefit from extra attention to the floor guide, brush strips and sensor settings at each service.

Standards and rules in Scotland

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Tell us what is happening. Describe the fault, or the service or inspection that is due, and send photos of the door and any label on the operator. Include the address in Alloa and how much the site depends on the door.
  2. Visit price agreed in writing. We confirm the price of the visit in writing before an engineer attends. If the door can be priced from photos and its make and model, we say so at this stage.
  3. Engineer visit. A specialist engineer working under our management diagnoses the fault or carries out the service, then tests the operation of the door and its safety sensors before leaving the site.
  4. Findings and follow-up. You receive a written record of what was found and done. Any parts or further work needed are quoted in writing before they go ahead, and nothing is added without your agreement.

Automatic door servicing in Alloa: questions

What happens if the service in Alloa finds a fault?

The engineer explains what they found and deals with small issues as part of the visit. Worn parts or longer repairs are quoted to you first and only carried out once you agree. The service report records the fault so it can be tracked at later visits.

What will automatic door servicing in Alloa cost?

Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Alloa, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Do you service doors in Alloa that another company installed?

Yes. We service most powered pedestrian doors, whoever fitted them. The first visit records each door's make, model, condition and any concerns, so later reports can be compared. If parts are no longer made for one of your doors, we let you know early so a replacement can be planned.

Do you service revolving and folding doors in Alloa?

Yes, as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving and folding doors have more moving parts and extra safety devices, so their services take longer and are priced accordingly. The checklist used for each door type is set out in its service report.

Do you leave a written record after each visit in Alloa?

Yes. Every visit ends with a written record of what was checked, what was done and anything that still needs attention. For safety inspections you receive a report of the findings and a site-specific risk assessment. Keeping these on file is the usual way to show that a workplace door is maintained and in good working order.

Do you offer service contracts in Alloa?

Yes. A service contract sets out how many visits a year each door receives, what each visit includes and the price, all agreed in writing before you sign. Contracts suit sites with several doors or busy entrances, because visits are planned ahead and the records stay in one place. Contract length and notice terms are shown in the agreement.

Can a home in Alloa get help paying for a door opener?

Scotland does not have Disabled Facilities Grants. Councils help through their Scheme of Assistance, which can include a grant for essential permanent adaptations. Ask your council whether a powered door opener could be included.
