Covering Windsor and nearby

Requests for automatic door repairs in Windsor are handled by us and passed to a specialist engineer working under our management. Coverage includes the SL4 postcode district: town-centre premises, business and retail sites, public buildings and residential streets alike.

Care homes in and around Windsor often need automatic doors on corridors and day rooms as well as at the main entrance. Gentle operation, hold-open devices linked to the fire alarm and controlled exits help residents move about safely.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic door repairs (straight-line distance): Slough (1.8 miles), Egham (4.1 miles), Staines-upon-Thames (5.4 miles), Maidenhead (5.8 miles), Uxbridge (6.8 miles), Ashford (7.1 miles).

What to think about for automatic door repairs in Windsor

  • Glass damage needs prompt action to keep people safe. Switch the door off, keep people back from the broken leaf and tape or board the glass if that can be done safely.
  • Shopping parades and business parks in Windsor can have restricted parking or loading. Tell us where an engineer can park and unload tools when you book the visit.
  • Rule out the simple things. Check whether the door's isolator or fused spur has been switched off, and whether other equipment on the same circuit has also stopped working.
  • A door with battery backup may show a fault, or fail to open in a power cut, when its battery is worn out. Batteries are a routine replacement part rather than a major repair.
  • Opening hours matter when booking a repair in Windsor. If your premises close early or open late, mention it so the engineer can work while the entrance is quiet.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
  2. Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to Windsor, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
  3. Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
  4. Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

Send us a photo of the faulty door and its operator label in Windsor. We will confirm the visit price in writing and offer the earliest engineer visit available.

Automatic door repairs in Windsor: questions

Do you keep records of repairs for buildings in Windsor?

Yes. Each visit produces a written report of the fault found, the work done and any parts fitted or recommended. Facilities teams can keep these with the door's service records, which helps show the door is being maintained and makes repeat faults easier to trace.

Is there a guide price for automatic door repairs in Windsor?

Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Windsor, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Can you tell me the cost before visiting my premises in Windsor?

We always confirm the visit price before attending. For some faults, photos of the door and the operator label let us price the repair itself in advance. Where the cause needs testing on site, parts and extra work are quoted after diagnosis and only go ahead if you agree.

Is it safe to keep using a faulty automatic door in Windsor?

It depends on the fault. A slow or noisy door may be safe to use until the visit, but a door that strikes people, closes unexpectedly or has damaged glass should be switched off and kept clear. If you are unsure, switch it off and use another entrance until an engineer has checked it.

Do you offer service contracts in Windsor?

Yes. A service contract sets out how many visits a year each door receives, what each visit includes and the price, all agreed in writing before you sign. Contracts suit sites with several doors or busy entrances, because visits are planned ahead and the records stay in one place. Contract length and notice terms are shown in the agreement.

Can you take over servicing of doors in Windsor from another company?

Yes. Send us the door details and, if you have them, previous service records or inspection reports. The first visit gives a baseline for each door, and its price is agreed in writing beforehand. From then on, records continue in one consistent format, whichever company looked after the doors before.

Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Windsor?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
